Hakan Yanar is a Professor of Surgery and faculty member at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. He graduated from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1994. He did surgery intership at University Hospital Health Science Center at Colorado, Denver, USA. He did his General Surgery training at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine.

After a one-year General Surgery fellowship at University of Southern California Medical Center, Los Angeles, USA, he returned to join the faculty at the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. He is an attending on the General Surgery Service.

Dr. Yanar’s primary clinical and research interests are related to the diagnostic and surgical management of surgical oncology, colorectal cancer, acute emergent surgical conditions such as acute pancreatitis and cholecystitis, gastrointestinal endoscopy (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and PEG), and advanced laparoscopic surgery including use of laparoscopy in gastric, pancreatic, colon; and rectal cancer.

He certificated”Robotic Surgery”,  “Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and Hypertermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in Peritoneal Surface Malignancy”; and Fellow of the European  Board of Surgery- Emergency Surgery (FEBS EmSurg) Honorary Diploma.
